Bridge Builders are individuals and partners who have helped us build our community and grow our families. The 2019 Bridge Builders Awardees were honored as follows:
Talbert House for their ongoing collaboration with with the comprehensive case management and employment program that helps low income 14-24 year-olds build career paths, find employment and break the cycle of poverty.
Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio and Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati for Eviction Prevention Assistance Program that is assisting Hamilton County residents facing eviction.
Web ventures for the pathways to careers in construction group that meets to discuss opportunities for employment and provide insight to future employment and vocational trends.
Tryed Stone New Beginnings Church and Freestore Foodbank for your partnership with the mobile food pantry, through this partnership we have been able to provide fresh produce to families in our area.
We celebrated two Head Start employees Louis Eddings & Wynetta Mccants for 50 years of service to the Agency.
We honored former Vice President of Early Childhood Education | Head Start - Ms. Verline Dotson, who has helped to build the Cincinnati Head Start program to be one of the leading preschool programs. Thank you Verline for your service to the Community Action Agency’s Head Start. We wish you the best in this next chapter!
We honored individuals in the community who have made it their life-long work to fight for justice and equality for individuals in poverty. Those awardees are as follows:
Pastor Damon Lynch, III of New Prospect Baptist Church was awarded the Gwen L. Robinson Catalyst for Change Award.
The Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones was awarded the Theodore M. Berry award.
Mark Curnutte was the keynote speaker. Pultzer prize-winning newspaper reporter for 25 years at Cincinnati Enquirer, now a full-time faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Gerontology at Miami University, Oxford. He also just published his second book, which is available today called Across the Color Line: Reporting 25 Years in Black Cincinnati.
