Male Involvement
What is Male Involvement?
The Male Involvement Program focuses on planning and providing activities for fathers, uncles, grandfathers or other men who are active in the life of Head Start children. The Male Involvement group is a sponsored program through the Head Start Parent Policy Council.
What does Male Involvement Do?
Male Involvement focuses first on involving men in the Head Start program with the Understanding that children need both females and males in their lives. The group plans activities which encourage male participation together with their children in the Head Start programs that they attend. The Male Involvement program gives the significant male in the lives of a Head Start child the support necessary to become a stronger advocate the ideas and techniques to sustain the child academically, emotionally and the opportunity to exercise learning through play. As males develop a stronger understanding of their role in the child’s life , they are able to promote healthy development in their child's self esteem and learning capabilities.
