October 30, 2015 - Hamilton County residents that have received a utility disconnection notice, but can’t afford to pay the bill may be eligible to get help through CAA’s Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency will soon begin accepting applications for a one-time benefit during the winter months. Income eligible individuals can receive up to $175 towards the households’ utility service. HEAP staff will see walk-ins Monday – Thursday beginning at 8:00am. All others seen for the day MUST have a pre-scheduled appointment. The HEAP hotline number is 1-866-747-1039.
These are the required documents needed:
(All documentation is required each time you apply for services)
• Valid Picture ID for Applicant; (Includes all individuals listed on utility bill and those applying on applicant’s behalf. Current notarized letter is also required for individuals’ applying on applicant’s behalf);
• Current Duke Energy Utility Bill (actual bill only, no door hangers.) CANNOT be finalized bill, if moving;
• Social Security Cards for all household members (must have the actual card or printout);
• 90 days of income. If you are paid bi-weekly seven (7) stubs are needed; weekly thirteen (13) stubs are needed.
The HEAP department will also be open on Saturday, November 7th for additional Winter Crisis appointments.
