Children account for the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. As a result, CAA is working to support children who fall in this category. On July 10th, CAA staff served lunch to children in the Project Connect/Cincinnati Public Schools Summer Camp. About 90 Children received a healthy lunch at Fairview School in Clifton. CAA staff said their time spent with these special children was worth every minute. Children in the camp reside in shelters, motels and with organizations that help the homeless. During the Project Connect Summer camp, students are exposed to academics, enrichment and field trips aimed at providing life changing experiences that will be remembered well into adult life. Each Wednesday community organizations can provide, serve and join the campers for lunch. In addition to providing an awesome meal, Community Lunch day provides awareness to the community that homelessness does exist and is widely shared among a vulnerable population of children. The smiles you see on the faces of the children and CAA staff say it all. Community service is a win-win!
